Certification of pellet production at the ALFA WOOD unit in Nevrokopi, Drama

TÜV HELLAS (TÜV NORD) carried out a certification inspection of the pellet production at the ALFA WOOD unit in Nevrokopi, Drama, for the ENplus A1 and ENplus A2 categories, which are the top pellet qualities according to the ENplus standard.
TÜV HELLAS (TUV NORD), with a leading position in the field of inspections and certifications in our country, operates in the field of pellet certification according to the European ENplus standard with highly trained and experienced Inspectors and is the only Greek Inspection body recognized by the European Pellet Council.

ALFA WOOD has been a pioneer in wood products in recent years in Greece and in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region. With ENplus certification, the ALFA WOOD unit in Nevrokopi is the first Greek pellet production unit to be certified with this standard and can now use the unique identification number (ENplus ID) GR 001 together with the product certification stamp. In this way, a Greek company acquires a substantial commercial advantage, as it has the most prestigious certification in the field and the ability to document the high quality of production and at the same time to penetrate more demanding markets.

The ENplus quality certification is a big step in establishing pellets as a widely used heating product. ENplus is a quality certification approved by the European Pellet Council (EPC) in January 2011. The purpose of the certification is to ensure the supply of wood pellets for heating with a clearly defined and consistent quality.

The ENplus certification system is based on the following critical points:

• Requirements for production and quality assurance during the production of wood pellets
• Product requirements (EN 14961-2) with testing
• Requirements for labelling, handling and intermediate storage
• Requirements for delivery to end customers

Based on the above, TÜV HELLAS (TUV NORD) carried out sampling and testing of the product in the ALFA WOOD production unit in Nevrokopi in order to verify its quality, while ensuring that continuous controls are carried out in the factory throughout its production product. During the annual factory inspection, raw material suitability, chemical avoidance and traceability are confirmed while production and storage conditions are controlled to ensure maximum efficiency and minimum product degradation in the supply chain.
