The new “Save 2025” Program aims to improve the energy efficiency of households, contributing to primary energy savings of over 30% and the energy upgrade of at least 11,500 homes by 2025.
According to the energy balance of the year 2020, the energy consumption related to buildings in Greece corresponds to 43% of the total final energy consumption in the country. Residences are one of the most important energy consumers in the country, as they represent the largest part of the building stock (79.1%).
83,82% of buildings constructed before 1980 have very low energy efficiency (class H buildings), with the most energy-intensive residential buildings being single-family homes.
According to the National Energy and Climate Plan (NESP), Renewable Energy Sources (RES), including biomass, are a key factor in addressing energy poverty, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving the daily living conditions, safety, health and comfort of citizens.
Thus, the installation of a new or replacement of an old heating system with a new biomass wood pellet boiler falls into the categories of heating system upgrades, as it involves the use of RES.
And not only that. The Program also subsidizes smart remote control and monitoring systems, technology which is available in all modern and certified models of wood pellet heating systems.
